How diligent are you about maintenance for your car? While you may get regular oil changes and tire rotations, what do you do for your braking system? This is something that should be looked at on a yearly basis.

From our Mazda service center, you’ll get comprehensive brake maintenance, which includes several important tasks.

Inspection

Brake service starts with a close inspection of all components, including the pads, shoes, and rotors. The brake fluid will also be examined.

New Components

If necessary, any new parts that are needed will be put in. For example, if your brake pads are getting thin, you can have them replaced. New brake pads are typically good for about 30,000 miles or so.

Resurfacing the Rotors

Over time, rotors get corroded, and when this happens, it will affect how your car brakes. And while they will need to be replaced after about 60,000 miles, the good news is that rotors can be resurfaced so you can get several more years out of them.

Fluid Flush

Another thing that happens over time with your car is that the brake fluid gets old and will need to be replaced. Generally, you should do this about every two years or 30,000 miles.

Signs that You Need Brake Service

If you’re experiencing any of these things with your car, there’s a good chance that brake service is required:

  • High-pitched sounds when braking
  • Vibrations when braking
  • Spongy pedal
  • Burning smell
